Hey, y'all! I'm Pam, and this is my new blog. Some of you might know that I've had other blogs in the past. I used to have a blog about running, specifically marathons. Yep, I used to run marathons! Not very fast, but I ran them!
In October 2016, I received a breast cancer diagnosis. I then started a blog to document my daily struggles with chemo, surgery, radiation, and chemo brain.
Next was a blog filled with random content. Sadly, it died due to neglect.
I've tried to start blogging again a few times, but it's been tough because I didn't think I had anything interesting to write about. With Covid and the pandemic, I wasn't going anywhere or doing anything exciting. I guess I could have written about all the times I went to the kitchen for comfort food!
2020
2020 was an incredibly stressful year. There was a pandemic, quarantine, and then I received a cancer recurrence diagnosis.
I got my second diagnosis in early November 2020. After discussing my new treatment plan with my oncologist, a nurse handed me a card and said I should call the number on the card to schedule an appointment for my husband and me to attend a Cancer Orientation class with an oncology nurse. A WHAT?? Come on, Doc! Do you really think I need a lesson?
The nurse was great, but this was old news, other than what side effects I could expect from my new meds. I just felt like screaming....."EXCUSE ME...THIS AIN'T MY FIRST PINK RODEO!"
ON THE BLOG AGAIN?
So, why start blogging again now? Well, I have more to write about these days. But, do I have anything worthwhile to offer in the blogging world? I'm definitely not a professional writer. My grammar needs improvement, and with my permanent chemo brain, I really struggle with putting a sentence together.
And yet, I feel the need to blog. Maybe it's therapeutic? Two years after my second cancer diagnosis, perhaps I could share things to help someone else's breast cancer journey.
NEW BLOG?
After considering whether to revive one of my old blogs, I decided to start a new one instead, believing that a fresh start was the way to go.
But, hmmm....what should I call this new blog??
Although I plan to cover various topics, I will definitely share my experiences with cancer for the second time.
I can't remember ever going to an actual rodeo, but I thought the perfect name for my new blog would be--
THIS AIN'T MY FIRST PINK RODEO
Although this new blog is a work in progress, I appreciate you stopping by.
I'll be back soon with my first actual post!
